How much sample does a laboratory need for peptide testing?
The short answer
One standard vial is normally enough for purity and quantification, since only a small portion is consumed in preparation. Sending the whole vial rather than decanting part of it is better practice: it preserves the label, the lot number and the seal, all of which are part of what makes the result traceable to a real product.
In detail
Decanting introduces two problems. It adds a handling step outside the laboratory's control, and it discards the packaging evidence that ties the sample to a specific lot.
Multiple vials answer a different question. Several vials from one lot measure fill consistency; single vials from several lots measure batch-to-batch reproducibility.
