What does third-party tested actually mean?
The short answer
It means a laboratory that is not the seller performed the analysis. That is all it means. It says nothing about which vial was tested, when, whether the result relates to the lot you received, or whether other results from the same vendor went unpublished. The phrase is a category, not a quality claim.
In detail
To make it informative you need four additional facts: the laboratory's name, the lot tested, the date, and a verification path. Without them the claim cannot be checked at all.
The badge is easy to display and hard to falsify only in the narrow sense that the laboratory exists. Everything that determines whether it means anything sits in the details it omits.
Treat it as an invitation to ask for the certificate, not as a substitute for one.
